“My name is Doug Triplett. I was born September 1981 to Christian parents, who taught their children to know Christ. Unfortunately, it doesn’t mean my life was easy. I was abused at, what started at a very young age, until later years. I began acting out, almost immediately as a result, unable to use words, to where my parents even sought speech therapy for me. In those same early years, I started a life of being, repeatedly in & out, of family group homes & juvenile centers/lockups, the state of Iowa raised me.
My parents divorced when I was 11, in 1992, & shortly after my mother was diagnosed with cancer. My mother’s death was Thanksgiving Day in 1995, & in 1998 released from the juvenile system to fend for my own at 17. It all brought me into a world of Satan’s lies, several types of drug use, Homelessness, rejection, anger, hatred, depression, a failed, decade-long marriage, and even some attempts on my life. I was more than tired.
I don’t exactly remember “crying out” but i remember giving up on myself, letting go, & letting God. After several years of IV meth use, & with the strength of God Almighty, I was able to quit, “Cold turkey”. No rehabs, no meetings, just Christ & determination! It’s been 8 years now, even though, due to diabetes, I still have to look at a needle still, several times a day. I’m now a happier man, with a softened heart for others, no longer selfish, but selfless. God led me off the streets, to Illinois, where I have a great job, my own apartment, and serving on my church’s media team. I’ve never imagined being a part of helping a church and I’ve found it to be a promotion by God in my life. It’s kept me encouraged and I know the Lord is with me. I’m now even being led back to doing music again! This time, “for the Lord & the Lost” I can only give that credit to God!”
